there's a limit to the number of groups one can create as a sponsor? And, if there is, what's the limit? Who do I contact to request removal of an old group forum (of mine) that is now no longer used because it revolves around a product that is no longer in use or supported?

That seems to have done the trick. The old forum was removed and the new one created. Although no one answered my question about quantity of forums. Oh well.
